This comprehensive course provides leaders with the essential tools and strategies to manage and lead teams through VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) environments.

Over 2 days (face to face) or four 3x hour online sessions, participants will explore how to maintain control, make effective decisions, cultivate agility, and foster resilient teams.

The course covers topics such as decision-making frameworks, risk management, agile leadership, stress management, and building psychological safety.

By the end of the course, delegates will be empowered to lead their teams confidently through change, uncertainty, and adversity, while promoting team morale and ensuring high performance in a dynamic world.

Course Outline – Agenda

SESSION ONE (3 HOURS) – Cultivating a Sense of Control Amidst Change and Uncertainty

  • Breaking larger objectives into short-term goals to stay focused and make progress.
  • Importance of celebrating wins (no matter how small).
  • Aligning your team with a clear sense of purpose that reflects the organization’s vision, mission, and values.
  • The critical role of clear communication during VUCA periods.

SESSION TWO (3 HOURS) – Decision Making and Problem Solving in VUCA Environments (Including Risk Management)

  • Challenges of Decision-Making during VUCA.
  • Is it Okay for Managers Not to Have All the Answers?
  • Decision-Making Models for VUCA Environments.
  • Problem Solving in VUCA Environments (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Risk Management during Decision-Making in a VUCA world.

SESSION THREE (3 HOURS) Thriving in VUCA: Strategies for Cultivating Agility and Team Flexibility

  • Making agile decisions in periods of uncertainty.
  • Empowering team autonomy and decision-making.
  • Overcoming decision paralysis and understanding the dangers of waiting for complete certainty.
  • Scenario planning and contingency strategies.
  • Growth mindset and seeing challenges as opportunities.
  • Developing tolerance and team flexibility towards uncertainty.

SESSION FOUR (3 HOURS) Building Confident and Resilient Teams in a VUCA World

  • Understanding the link between confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
  • How to help your team develop confidence and resilience in a VUCA world.
  • Managing stress and stressors in teams.
  • Fostering Psychological Safety in Teams and building trust with team members.
  • Self-care as a leader and modelling resilience and confidence during times of VUCA.
