Effective Communication Skills for Local Government

2x 3 hour LIVE, Online course (via Zoom) with a professional trainer and a maximum group size of 16 people.

Overview

This course will focus on building effective communication skills and will help delegates convey information clearly and simply. It has been designed to help delegates establish and maintain co-operative professional and workplace relationships.

The course will cover different communication styles, how to build rapport, effective questioning and listening skills and discuss the impact of non-verbal communication.

This relaxed, fun, highly participatory online training session will also help delegates adapt communication styles depending upon the situation and person and will produce an action plan pertinent to their own areas for development.

Who should attend?

Any member, officer or council employee who wants to improve their communication skills.

Please note, this course is aimed at day to day communications in the council’s workplace and when interacting with residents.

Please note, this course is not specifically targeted at the council chamber, speech making or political debating (but it may help in those areas as well).
